Unlike in India, Canadian universities follow a three-intake system, which is also often referred to as a semester.
| Fall | This is the most popular semester and begins in September |
| Winter | This is a good chance to start your course should you miss the fall intake, and starts in January |
| Summer | This is a limited intake and usually starts in April or May. |
